Melbourne’s quantum diamond ecosystem draws on more than 30 years of foundational research, with over 100 researchers working directly on quantum diamond research and development.

The region is also home to the world’s first commercial quantum diamond foundry and a growing number of companies developing technologies for sectors including defence, space, healthcare, biotechnology, secure communications, advanced manufacturing, agriculture and transport.

Quantum Australia supports the Hub by connecting these capabilities with end-user industries, investors and commercial opportunities across Australia and internationally.

The launch also marked the publication of the Melbourne Quantum Diamond Hub Capability Statement 2026, showcasing the expertise, organisations and facilities driving quantum diamond innovation across Melbourne and Victoria.

The report provides a starting point for businesses, researchers and investors seeking to understand the ecosystem and identify opportunities for collaboration.

Building on the launch, MQDH intends to continue to raise awareness of the region’s strengths, foster collaboration between members and engage new partners locally and internationally.
