The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC), led by its Faculty of Engineering, has announced the establishment of the UTCC Post-Quantum Cryptography Application Migration Excellence Center (UTCC PQC-X).
The formal launch and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) signing ceremony took place on Friday, July 24, 2026, presided over by UTCC President Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thanavath Phonvichai. The initiative brings together three tech partners: Yip In Tsoi Next Co., Ltd., i-Sprint Innovations, and Utimaco.
“Quantum threats are no longer a distant future theory—they represent an immediate security risk,” stated Assoc. Prof. Dr. Thanavath Phonvichai. “UTCC is committed to serving as an intellectual and technological leader to guide Thai business and society safely through this transition. The center aims to build ‘Crypto-Agility,’ empowering organizations to rapidly adapt their defense systems in tandem with evolving technologies.”
Assistant Professor Dr. Supachecht Innet, Director of UTCC PQC-X, outlined the center’s four core missions:
- Research & Innovation: Developing post-quantum cryptography in alignment with international standards.
- Workforce Development: Up-skilling and re-skilling cybersecurity professionals.
- Business Advisory Services: Assisting organizations with risk assessment and system migration roadmaps.
- Strategic Networks: Building collaborative ecosystems locally and internationally.
The roadmap spans three distinct phases: establishing a PQC testing laboratory, rolling out executive training courses, and offering full-scale consulting services to expand regional networks.
The center will operate on a “Strategic Industrial Collaboration” model, drawing specialized expertise from its three industry partners: i-Sprint Innovations, Utimaco, and Yip In Tsoi Next Co., Ltd.
Dr. Manisra Barameechai, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, added that the faculty will bridge the gap between high-level research and practical business applications using its research talent, faculty experts, and state-of-the-art laboratories.
“This is more than a lab; it’s a national head start on “Q-Day,” powered by a partnership between academia and the very best of global industry. My sincere gratitude also goes to our industry collaborators and knowledge partners, including NECTEC, DEPA, Summit Computers, Computer Union, LinkAxia, iNet Management Services, QTFT and DigitTech One, for lending their expertise to the center’s mission,” said Supachate Innet, Director of UTCC Makerspace and Director of PhD Program in Computer Engineering and Financial Technology, University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce.
“As a founding industry collaborator, we’re committed to advancing PQC research, knowledge sharing, and talent development in partnership with UTCC, and to helping Thai organizations build the Crypto-Agility they need ahead of Q-Day,” said Albert Ching, Vice-Chairman and CTO, i-Sprint Innovations.
The launch event featured a panel discussion with experts and executives from i-Sprint Innovations, Utimaco, NECTEC, and the Quantum Technology Foundation (Thailand) / QTFT. The panel addressed real-world challenges facing industries in the quantum era, alongside the unveiling of a free PQC migration course designed specifically for enterprise executives.
