The College of Computing at Thailand’s Khon Kaen University (KKU), led by Associate Professor Sirapat Chiewchanwattana, Ph.D., Dean of the College of Computing, embarked on an official visit to Singapore on 22 May 2026. The delegation engaged in high-level discussions regarding quantum technology collaboration at the Centre for Quantum Technologies (CQT), located at the National University of Singapore (NUS), and at Horizon Quantum. This initiative forms part of the college’s strategy to prepare its academic infrastructure for quantum computing.

According to KKU’s announcement, the discussions focused on monitoring technological breakthroughs, analyzing industry trends, and identifying the practical applications of quantum computing across various sectors. The insights gained will be strategically deployed to design new course modules, modernize academic curricula, and expand institutional research capabilities to meet modern industrial demands.

Chiewchanwattana stated that this international dialogue provided the university’s leadership and academic staff with critical knowledge regarding the direction of quantum software development and developer tools. He emphasized that quantum computing stands as a disruptive technology with the potential to revolutionize diverse industries, including artificial intelligence, molecular simulation, cryptography, and advanced data analytics—areas attracting significant, continuous global investment.
