Private research institution Constructor Group, which specializes in education, research, and funding programmes, will relocate its global quantum and AI headquarters from Switzerland to Singapore. In doing so, Constructor expects to create more than 200 new jobs over the next 2-3 years, which will expand its regional footprint to more than 250 people in research, education, deep technology and capital businesses.

The group, which consists of several divisions, will see Constructor Tech anchoring the first phase by scaling AI and quantum capabilities and IP development in Singapore. Constructor University, Nexford University, Constructor Knowledge Labs, and Constructor Capital will follow, building research, education, applied-science, and investment activity across the region.

The decision for Constructor Group to establish itself in Singapore was made after an extensive international evaluation process of leading technology destinations, and also due to a partnership with Singapore’s Economic Development Board. According to Constructor’s press release, the Singapore government welcomes this initiative, and views it as strengthening Singapore’s AI and quantum ecosystem, and enhance capabilities for the research and education sector.

“We value the partnership with EDB in establishing this Center of Excellence for Quantum Computing and AI,” said Dr. Serg Bell, Constructor Group Founder and Chairman of the Board. “Singapore’s research depth and engineering-led innovation are a fit with our mission: using computing, software, and robotics to make every scientist, teacher, and student more efficient and effective. Constructor’s growing IP portfolio of 217 patent families (95% focused on applied AI systems) is the foundation. Singapore is where that vision becomes real.”

“Singapore is one the world’s top technology and research environments, and their support has opened a new door,” he added. “Constructor Group’s entire ecosystem — research, education, deep technology and capital — will now sit in one place to define what AI and quantum mean for industry and education over the next decade,” said Dr. Bell.

Why Singapore

According to Constructor, the decision reflects Singapore’s position as a globally recognised innovation and technology hub. The company cites Singapore’s position among the world’s leading economies on measures of innovation, talent competitiveness, and global connectivity, including being ranked #1 on the 2026 Henley Passport Index and remaining in the global top five of the WIPO Global Innovation Index. The country is also continuing to strengthen its AI and deep tech ecosystem under National AI Strategy 2.0, supported by sustained investments in infrastructure, research, and talent development.

Constructor also cited the broader Singapore tech ecosystem and its location as a regional base for technology companies such as OpenAI, Microsoft, Google, and Workato.

Construction’s transition from training to deployment

Constructor has, until now, been known for training and developing talent, through programmes such as Constructor University, Constructor Nexford and the Group’s research labs. Following its move to Singapore, Constructor will now expand its focus from training talent to also deploying it at scale.

Of the approximately 200 jobs it will create, more than half will be graduates, PhDs and post-graduates, drawn both from Constructor’s own pipeline and from the regional talent pool. The tech team based in Singapore is expected to grow to more than 160 specialists, with the Group’s regional footprint passing 250. In parallel, Singapore will become Constructor’s primary IP portfolio location, with plans to file more than 100 patents annually.

The Singapore hub is being designed from the outset to serve the entire Constructor Group, which consists of:

  • Constructor Tech anchors the first phase, scaling its AI and quantum capabilities and IP base in Singapore.

  • Constructor University, Constructor Nexford and Constructor Labs will progressively build joint research, faculty exchange, executive education and applied-science programmes with Singapore’s universities and research institutes — starting from existing engagement with the National University of Singapore.

  • Constructor Capital will use Singapore as a base to back early-stage quantum, deep-tech and EduTech founders across the region.

“Digital Industry Singapore welcomes Constructor Group’s plans to establish its AI and Quantum Centre of Excellence in Singapore. This investment will further strengthen Singapore’s growing deep-tech ecosystem, and create valuable opportunities for collaboration with our research and enterprise partners. Through these partnerships, we look forward to new capabilities and innovations being developed from Singapore,” said Philbert Gomez, Senior Vice President, Executive Director and Head of Digital Industry Singapore.
