ZuriQ and Rhonexum, both based in Switzerland, have entered into a multi-year commercial framework agreement, through which Rhonexum will supply cryogenic integrated-circuit technologies and customization services to ZuriQ, which will evaluate the potential of each of these solutions to advance its trapped-ion quantum computing roadmap.
This partnership brings together ZuriQ’s trapped-ion quantum computing expertise and Rhonexum’s cryogenic electronics technologies to address future scaling and performance requirements. It establishes a framework for future orders, product deployments, and technical collaboration.
Quantum computing is rapidly accelerating toward industrial deployment and scalable commercial systems. As quantum processors scale, demand is growing for specialized hardware and electronics that improve performance, reduce complexity, and enable more compact system architectures.
A longstanding challenge in scaling trapped-ion quantum computing is to reduce the overhead in control signals per qubit that travel from room-temperature sources into a cryogenic environment.
ZuriQ’s architectural advances together with Rhonexum’s cryogenic electronics expertise promise a unique approach that can enable denser qubit arrays while retaining flexible reconfiguration capabilities.
The agreement has already resulted in a first quantity of Rhonexum’s inaugural product scheduled for delivery by the end of this year. Extending beyond a traditional customer-supplier relationship and including long-term technical cooperation, ZuriQ will benefit from privileged access to selected Rhonexum technologies and future product developments, while direct feedback from ZuriQ will help Rhonexum shape future products for trapped-ion quantum computing applications.
“The partnership combines highly complementary capabilities and gives us access to specialized cryogenic electronics technologies that support our future deployment roadmap,” said Pavel Hrmo, CEO of ZuriQ.
Vicente Carbon, CEO of Rhonexum, said that partnering with ZuriQ validates the relevance of their technology and provides a clear pathway toward deployment in next-generation quantum computing systems through a long-term commercial relationship.
The partnership reflects the increasing collaboration between Swiss quantum startups as the sector matures.
“Collaboration across the Swiss quantum ecosystem is becoming increasingly important to accelerate industrial adoption and strengthen Europe’s position in the global quantum technology landscape,” said Hrmo.
